Ensure that the surface where the sheet membrane will be applied is clean, dry, and free from any loose debris, oil, or contaminants. Remove any existing coatings or finishes that may interfere with proper adhesion. Choose the appropriate sheet membrane based on the specific requirements of the project. Sheet membranes are available in various materials, such as modified bitumen, EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), or TPO (thermoplastic olefin). Consider factors like the application area, expected movement or substrate flexibility, exposure to UV radiation, and compatibility with adhesives and sealants. Measure the area to be covered and cut the sheet membrane accordingly, allowing for overlaps and proper coverage of edges, corners, and joints. Ensure a sufficient amount of membrane extends beyond the area of application for proper sealing and waterproofing. Apply the recommended adhesive or bonding agent to the prepared surface using a trowel or roller. Follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding coverage, open time, and drying/curing requirements. Carefully position the sheet membrane onto the adhesive, starting from one end or corner. Smooth out any wrinkles, bubbles, or uneven areas to ensure proper adhesion and complete contact with the surface. Press the membrane firmly into place.
